Topic: Collaborating with Community Scientists to Improve Bee Conservation: Shutterbee (A project for Photographers!)

Nicole and her students and study plant-pollinator interactions, with a focus on bumble bees. They work with the community to conserve pollinators and promote public understanding of science. The project relies on citizen-scientists and photographers to regularly photograph bees in their backyards as part of the survey work of the project. This aspect of the study is the “Shutterbee” project.

Nicole received her bachelor’s degree from Loyola University, Chicago, and a Ph.D. from Washington University. She was then a post-doc at the University of Missouri with dual foci on research and science outreach. Since 2016, she has been a faculty member at Webster University.
